Open Data

The open datasets, mapping services, and databases the firm works from, with what each one holds and who keeps it.

Every dataset below is published by a federal or provincial custodian and used under that custodian's own terms. The portal records what each one holds, the ground it covers, and how it is obtained, so a result can be traced back to the data it rests on. Licence conditions are the custodian's and change without notice; they are read at the source rather than restated here.

How this catalogue is used

Grouped by what they describe
Datasets are filed by climate, hydrology, groundwater, and terrain rather than by who publishes them. Custodians reorganise and portals get renamed; what a dataset describes does not change.
Reference, not investigation
Open data supports exploration and the early framing of a problem. It is not a substitute for site-specific investigation, and a design decision is not taken on it alone.
Attribution
Attribution is carried wherever the data is displayed or redistributed, in the form the custodian requires.

The standards and technical references these datasets are read against are in References, and the terms they are described in are in the Lexicon. The modules that consume them are described under FluviOS.
